Effective date: 9 May 2025
The short version Nudge is 100% offline. It collects no personal data, has no accounts, uses no analytics, and contains no ads. Everything stays on your device.
This Privacy Policy describes how the Nudge mobile application ("Nudge", "the app", "we", "our") handles information. Nudge is designed as a fully offline, privacy-first task manager for students. The app is built so that no personal information ever leaves your device.
Nudge does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. We do not gather names, email addresses, phone numbers, device identifiers, advertising IDs, IP addresses, location data, usage analytics, or any other personally identifiable information.
All task data — including task titles, descriptions, deadlines, subjects, and reminder settings — is stored locally on your device using SQLite. This data never leaves your device. It is not synchronised to any cloud, server, or third party. Only the Nudge app on your device has access to this data.
Nudge does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any credentials to use the app. There is no user registration, no login, and no cloud sync of any kind. Because there are no accounts, there is no account data to collect or store.
The name and profile picture you optionally set inside the app are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to us or any third party.
The app contains no analytics SDKs. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Crashlytics, Amplitude, Sentry, or any other tracking or telemetry library. We do not track how the app is used, which features are tapped, or how often the app is opened.
Nudge does not contain advertisements. The app does not include any advertising SDKs, ad networks, or third-party advertising libraries. We do not show ads of any kind.
Notifications are handled entirely on your device using the flutter_local_notifications library. Reminders are scheduled and triggered locally by the Android operating system. No external servers, push notification services (such as Firebase Cloud Messaging), or third parties are involved in delivering your reminders.
Nudge includes an optional voice input feature powered by the speech_to_text library. When you use voice input, audio is processed by Android's on-device speech recognition engine. Audio is captured only while you actively hold the voice button. Audio is not recorded, stored, or transmitted by Nudge. The app does not send audio to any server. Speech recognition runs locally on your device.
This feature requires the RECORD_AUDIO permission, which is used solely for the duration of your voice input and for no other purpose.
Nudge includes an optional document scanning feature that uses on-device optical character recognition (OCR) to extract text from images. When you choose to scan an image, that image is processed entirely on your device using Google's ML Kit text recognition library. The image is never stored permanently by the app, never uploaded to any server, and never transmitted anywhere. Processing happens locally and the result (extracted text) is used only to pre-fill the task input field.
This feature requires access to your device's photo library (via READ_MEDIA_IMAGES on Android 13+ or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and below) solely to allow you to select an image to scan. We do not access, read, or store any other files or images on your device.
The app uses Android's Share Intent system to receive text that you choose to share from other apps (for example, WhatsApp, Gmail, Telegram, or your browser). When you share text into Nudge, that text is used only to pre-fill the task input on your device so the app can extract a task title and deadline. This shared text is never transmitted off your device, never sent to us, and never sent to any third party.
No data is shared with third parties — ever. We do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer any information to any third party, because no information is collected in the first place.
The following Android permissions are declared in the app. Each permission is used only for its stated purpose:
The app does not request access to your contacts, calendar, precise location, SMS, call logs, camera (live capture), files beyond the selected image, microphone in the background, or any other sensitive permissions.
Nudge does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because the app collects no information at all, it is safe to use by users of any age. The app contains no in-app purchases and no advertising.
No server-side data exists — there is nothing for us to delete on our end. All your data lives only on your device.
Because Nudge operates fully offline with no user accounts and no server, all data created by the app exists only on your device. You have full control to delete it at any time using one of the methods below.
Uninstall the app (full data wipe)
Go to Settings → Apps → Nudge → Uninstall. This permanently removes all tasks, documents, preferences, and any locally stored files created by the app. This is the most complete deletion method.
Clear app data without uninstalling
Go to Settings → Apps → Nudge → Storage → Clear Data. This resets the app to a fresh state, removing all tasks, your name, profile picture, streaks, and XP — while keeping the app installed.
Delete individual tasks inside the app
Swipe left on any task in the task list to delete it individually. Use the Tasks screen to bulk-manage your tasks.

What we cannot delete — Since we never receive any of your data, there is nothing stored on any server for us to delete on your behalf. There are no backups, no databases, no logs containing your personal information on our side.
Because no personal information is transmitted or stored off-device, there is no server-side data that could be exposed in a breach. Task data on your device is protected by the standard app sandboxing and security features of the Android operating system, which prevents other apps from accessing Nudge's data.
This policy may be updated from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the app's functionality or in applicable legal requirements. When we update this policy, we will revise the "Effective date" at the top of this page. In addition, users will see an in-app notice on the first launch after a policy update, so you are always informed before continuing to use the app. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising in connection with this policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of India.
